Residential School as a part of clinical internship on "Client Counseling" successfully completed

On November 15-17, 2019 PDS-Nepal conducted a three days' residential school for the law students from National Law College (NaLC) at Chetana Kendra, Budol, Banepa. The aim of the workshop was to provide practical knowledge/Skill on Client Counselling and Legal Drafting to the law students. As usual, This residential workshop was also highly appreciated by students. As Continuity of residential school, this was the 5th workshop PDS-Nepal conducted with their expert's resource persons for the students from National Law college Kathmandu.

In Nepal, most law students graduate law school without the necessary capacity to effectively and meaningfully represent an accused before the court. While they may have memorized legal doctrines necessary to pass the bar exam, they have no actual hands-on experience or knowledge of the day-to-day practice of law. In addition, few law school classes emphasize any sense of social responsibility or the duty of lawyers to represent the less fortunate.

PDS-Nepal (previously as ILF-Nepal) has moved forward to address these issues via a clinical legal education externship program and began training law students through its clinical externship program has a partnership with National Law college, Nepal Law Campus and Chakrabarti Ha.Bi. Education Academy. Interns from various law schools engaged with PDS-Nepal's experts' defense lawyer in case preparation, client representation, hearing, research and many more.
